No one gives a shit who I vote for
Last post notwithstanding, though it may help emphasize my point below, this is why (EDIT: well, one reason why) I’ve done no focused and sustained brooding over political issues and candidates here on guff through the years.
I vote. I can be fairly aggressive in my political beliefs. On occasion I’ve volunteered a little legwork to local campaigns. But I’ve never taken it and myself so seriously as to think even for a moment I must jump up on my virtual egg crate and start screaming the reasons why I WILL NOT VOTE FOR SO AND SO AND SO SHOULDN’T YOU!!!11!1
I hate a whole host of them, and on occasion their actions or words or government-debilitating idiocy demands I point it out in prose. Hopefully in an effectively sarcastic and biting way. But it’s beyond unlikely what I might say about any one political hope-ster will lead to having reason to fear my wrath. And that’s unlikely to change.
It’s because the goal has never been to sway me, specifically. They are not on a mission to become *my* friend; which is good because I have enough of those. And it’s most certainly not because what I think or feel doesn’t matter, even if there are those on the other side of the political spectrum praying to make that a reality.
Now you may want to know who I vote for. That’s just natural curiosity, as well as an urge to argue over my choice, no doubt. But if you’re honest and (hopefully) realistic about these things, you really won’t give a shit. And you shouldn’t.
And not just because I don’t give a shit who you vote for.
