I’d go with a nice fruit basket for a gift
I let it pass without comment yesterday, the why of which I allude (illude? elude?) to below, but guff is now four years old. I prefer to classify blog birthdays as anniversaries, as I see what goes on here as more of a relationship between it the blog, you the reader, and me (the I). If I had that sort of mind I might find it all quite a sick little union we’ve got going here. But I don’t, so I can’t.
Back to the type of observance which should be observed here: The blog won’t be enjoying a celebration over its initial popping into existence, will it?
No. The answer is no. Yet, there was a birthing process originally involved in bringing guff into existence, however brief and painless it may have been (though I can’t speak for you and your blog). So maybe ‘birthday’ is the beau ideal here. Whatever. Four years have passed. Send the card you judge most appropriate for the occasion. I’ll place them, one and all, up on the mantle.
Now I’m off to buy a mantle. But first and finally, guff’s life path (ahem) has followed a very circuitous route to get to where it is today. It took its baby steps as a Blogger blog (in a way it’s still stumbling around over there). A bit later it went through a wild phase in MovableType dress on a now defunct subdomain (a squatter’s domain, as I like to call it) at a friend’s Internet locale. Then it went AWOL for a time. Actually I went AWOL, an action for which I don’t think you can blame guff (but go ahead).
And so here we are today. guff is not the same guff, considering I merged it with another blog of mine. I assure you it was nothing like incest. Nothing. Like. It. But from the consolidation guff gained a new born on date, thus leaving me confused as how to postmark its actual mailing into existence. Which one? Both, probably. It’s Blurried Musings, and it’s guff. And, well, it’s something altogether else now. And it has two birthdays. Damn lucky, that.
Perhaps, just perhaps, you could say guff has done some growing since making it’s home on szubNet. I wouldn’t, but you could.
