WordPress Two Point Zero

posted on December 26, 2005

Looks like things have gone as planned at WordPress central. Not only has the fresh new look for wordpress.org gone live (a little sooner than it probably should have) and the new ‘W’ logo been implemented, but WordPress 2.0 is now final. Still waiting to see an announcement on the official blog. Guess the devs are little busy right now…

I’ll be moving guff over to WP 2.0 within the next few days. In the meantime, I’m worrying over a very important detail. Previous versions of WordPress have been semi-officially named after jazz legends (at least since 1.0.1). The method for choosing which musician is so *honored* is the release date must fall upon their birthday. For two or more on the same day, I’m guessing personal bias comes into play for the selection process. Now it’s possible jazz guitarist and composer John Scofield will get the nod this time, but I’m pulling for Monty Budwig. Not well known outside jazz circles, he was around through jazz’s heyday, playing with Benny Goodman, Woody Herman, Bud Shank, Shelly Manne, the Red Norvo Trio and the Lighthouse All Stars (amongst so many others). And there’s a lot to be said for his one led album having the name Dig. That’s something everyone should do when it comes to WordPress.

Ah, but it’s a shame WP 2.0 wasn’t released tomorrow. A good chance we’d be calling it Booty.

I’m having trouble using the Get Author Profile plugin with Wordpress 2.0, it doesn’t return anything.
