Absentee blogger

These things are so deeply inter-related by law they’re not allowed to marry:

  • guff has been on silent running mode for the past two and one-half weeks.
  • During the same time I’ve not been seen much at my usual online haunts.
  • I began a new job on September 4th.

The job is—to use the slang of my generation—a bit of a drag. One reason for this is it’s not a technical/managerial position, an area I hoped to stay with. It also lacks the boatload of money with which I could have cushioned my disappointment. But it’s honest work. And it’s something I’ve done before (long ago…), so skill and experience come into play; there’s something to say for not looking like a lost little puppy on day one.

I’ll probably blog about it some, though I may do it somewhere else. All depends. On something. Whatever that may be.

Anyway, guff should not vanish anytime soon, I don’t plan to stop doing my little WordPress-y type things, the snark is still at the surface, etc., etc. But for the next few (more) weeks I’m not sure where and at what time (and how much of that there’ll be) I’ll find myself online. I’ll be trying to stay plugged in, but it’s hard when your place of employment is an Internet-free zone. Yes, they still exist in America.

Also, I’m following up with those who emailed or commented hereabouts the past fortnight, but on certain technical queries keep in mind I’m not going to have a lot of time for debugging or rewriting WordPress plugins. For that, I’ll just have to hope October is a better month for getting my geek on.
