Bad manners

posted on April 28, 2005

There’s a few (maybe more?) people who’ve been bugging me for help of a technical and mainly WordPress nature. Can WordPress have a nature? Whatever. Just note that any lack of communication on my part is due mostly, but not completely, to the following:

  1. See last bullet point here. That’s actually me being serious. There are two things I’ve never been good about with online relationships: making it clear when I’m joking, and keeping up with email. The two tie together, but I’ll never bother to sort out the why.
  2. See my previous post. The past three weeks when I was at the computer but not seen writing cute little comments somewhere, I was pushing that sucker out my sphincter. Yes, it hurt; thanks for the concern.
  3. Despite what some may have been saying behind my back, you’re not the boss of me unless you pay me. That’s a top definition of “boss of me” by the way, and the only one I’ll ever accept as correct usage.
  4. I’m not ignoring you. It may seem like I’m ignoring you, and I definitely haven’t done anything to disabuse you of the notion that I’m ignoring you (until this post). But I’m not ignoring you. Honest. Swear to your god. Not ignoring you. At all.
  5. If I haven’t actually offered to help you, then you’re going to be low on my activities list. Sorry, but that’s how it’s got to be.
  6. There is no six. But five somehow didn’t seem like enough.

That should help clarify things. Expect email in a few days.

And stop saying I’m ignoring you. Unless I start.

You too eh ?
The hassle I got dropped off hugely when I amended one of my WP pages to include the word “pay”. I do still get the occasional request and I invariably help out but they have to be blindingly nice about it - saying that though, someone expecting to “pay” in the region of $10.00 and get several installs, plugins, themes, tweaks and me of 24/7 online callout is taking it a bit far - and no, I’m not joking !

I like #3 ….. but I’d add “until the timer goes PING” :)
