They get letters

TBogg shares a bit of his inbox, of which the part that caught my attention was:

Four more years of scientific decisions being made by people who believe in a ghost in the clouds. You happen to be in the minority hear, 99% of people on earth believe in God. They must be seeing ghosts!!! lol you pathetic ameba.

Ignoring the question of what it makes a person who bothers to respond to statements made by a pathetic “ameba,” I’d like to note something of note:

  • Atheists do not believe in God.
  • Agnostics and other undecideds do not believe in God.
  • Buddhists do not believe in God.
  • Taoists do not believe in God.
  • Confusianists do not believe in God.
  • Animists, Shamanists, and members of “nature-based” faiths do not believe in God.
  • Shintoists and practicitioners of the various folk religions do not believe in God.

The list above represents 30% of “people on earth,” and at the very least disproves the math above. However, let me further note that:

  • Hindus believe in God, but not really the one meant above.
  • Jews believe in God, but feel that ‘new’ biography about Him is wrong.
  • Muslims believe in God, but due to recent events do not appear on the ledger of acceptable friends for Patriotic Americans®.

That leaves a little over 30% of people who believe in the God referred to by TBogg’s correspondent. Seems a very small majority, indeed.
