Short novel notes

posted on November 2, 2004

All right, the first chapter is up. I’m entertaining the idea of back-dating them, so as to store it all within a November time-frame, but at least for now they’ll keep their actual post date.

Again, the novel is being sent out into the world without much in the way of editorial consideration. For that to happen, I wouldn’t be interested in publishing it here until mid-2005. So in regards to issues of spelling, grammar, pacing, story and logic, I’m open to comments but not true criticism. Scrutinize the work all you want, but I’m not listening!!

As I expected, the word count I’ve set up is a little stingy in what it will count as a word (word count is not an exact science). Take that into…account whenever I talk about my off-line word count. The latter will always be more.
For readers who catch on: Ooh, he’s writing meta-fiction. How very literary of him. And using a gimmick that’s been done to death. Sounds challenging… Yeah, yeah. You devise a plot you’re willing to pull 50,000 words out of your ass for so you can go dump it on the Net. Not the best idea I had, but it’s what I’m willing to put up with for the next 29 days. Can you blame me? Ok, go ahead and blame me.

Now to go avail myself of the democratic process, and the rest of Tuesday. Hopefully longer chapters to come.
