Prefacing the work

First November post!

(Read this to catch up. If you need to catch up.)

Let me explain just what “Kaf in 50K words” is. First off, I’m Kaf. That part’s easy to educate you on. Second, my plan is to post my National Novel Writing Month novel Nonsense Prose here on guff, one chapter at a time and all 50K+ words of it. The novel goes into a sub-category of this one, and I’ll be posting the novel and only the novel in that category. This category is a place for me to provide updates on how far along I am in my story, and loss of sanity. I’ll chant platitudes, cheer on myself and other NaNoWriMo participants, agonize over my verbiage, and bullshit on the art of novel writing at high-speed. But generally I’ll be biting down hard on my blog to work through the pain. It works, trust me.

Technical things to watch for once the novel starts going up:

  • The story’s word count, thanks to my own handy dandy WordPress plugin, will appear in the upper right hand corner (Upper-right hand corner? Upper right-hand corner? Can’t be upper-right-hand-corner), both in this category and the novel’s.
  • Links to the previous and next chapters (on individual novel entries) replace the category and posted by stuff you see under the date.
  • The novel will not appear in the categories list in the sidebar. Why not? I have my reasons.

That should do it. And no, I haven’t started on the novel yet. Just putting that out there. Hey, it’s only day one, lunch time. Cut me some slack, would ya.

Thought for the moment: Preparation is procrastination with a purpose.
