Google likes me! It really likes me!
Not that it’s important or anything, but I’m now the #1 site when Googling babelith; which if you haven’t been paying attention, is the working title for my 2003 NaNoWriMo novel. In my case the word is made up. No, I don’t quite know what it means.
Among the other three (loser!) sites which use the word and appear in Google’s databanks, one is in Italian. Not being a language I can hack into pseudo-translation, I’ve lingo-Googled it to get:
“Segnalateci pure the things that you think interesting and that they do not join already in the pages that we have published: we will modernize annotations with your signalling and will turn this last one also to Tom Coates di Babelith, in order to make to modernize The Bomb.”
Bad English, and not much help, to boot. But who knows, maybe it’s an unusual last name. I know all about unusual names.
(“Tom Coates di Babelith, shiny new pilot of the starship Segway, reporting for duty, sir!”)
Actually the other two links, which is just one Geocities site, provides the evidence: it’s a misspelling. There’s a link to something called The Bomb, which is what the Italian page mentions, and the Bomb resides on a Webzine called, not Babelith, but Barbelith. No, I don’t quite know what it means.
