Some tools for the toolsless

posted on October 1, 2003

Just thought I’d pull some choice links to resources I found helpful (or interesting, or both) last year, and post them for the Wrimo crowd:

NaNoWriMo Report Card (Excel Spreadsheet) - If you have Excel, this is an excellent method to track daily word count. Offers quick feedback on word count minimums, averages per day, completion rates, graphing, and so on.

HowStuffWorks - you never know when it’ll be helpful to understand the inner workings of your toaster, or know how Krispy Kremes are made.

And for after November:

There Must Be 50 Ways to Fleece a Writer - If you luck out and find yourself with something worthy of bookstore shelves, this Writers Weekly article is a must read on ways not to get screwed.

For those willing to go it alone into publishing history, check out these articles on self-publishing at Kuro5hin (may be a bit out of date on some details): Part 1 | Part 2.
