Dueling Novaks

posted on September 30, 2003

Just to be a gadfly on this (mainly because one thing I really hate is the whiff of a “journalist” who may be backtracking (i.e. lying) for partisan political reasons):

July Bob Novak:

“Wilson never worked for the CIA, but his wife, Valerie Plame, is an Agency operative on weapons of mass destruction.”

September Bob Novak:

“According to a confidential source at the CIA, Mrs. Wilson was an analyst, not a spy, not a covert operative, and not in charge of undercover operatives.”

[Emphasis is all mine, of course]

Potential question to ask Mr. Novak (hopefully before November): There is an important difference between an operative and an analyst, right?
