News to my world

posted on September 29, 2003

Hey again. Just catching up on the goings-on from the past few days.

Anyone know if things are going well in Iraq? Am I right to believe there are no problems with our reasons for being there? And I assume plans to expand our efforts in the region are on hold. Maybe you know what’s going with al Qaeda, or can point to some information on the law breaking blatherskites in the White House.

I only ask because after skimming the front page of my local paper this morning, it seems the big stories of the day are:

  • Survey finds more women over 40 seeking younger dates*
  • Developer to oversee stadium construction*
  • Bishop home sale strikes a nerve
  • It’s thumbs up for UNH’s dining program

* Above the fold

The stadium development is sort of a big one for our area, so that makes sense. I guess. But the top news story of the day, sitting right beneath the masthead, is older ladies go for young studs? Is it really? Hell, considering the Segway is actually built right here, one might expect it to climb the news totem over a piece on what college kids are eating thirty miles away, right?

Nope.

And people wonder why anyone would subscribe to more than one newspaper. Thankfully, we’ve been getting the New York Times by accident during the past month. Thank you, Illuminati!
