Michel Houellebecq

When you’re the French novelist Michel Houellebecq, you don’t call Islam “the most stupid” of all monotheistic religions because you’re a common hatemonger, you do it because you’re a philosophical dilettante. You see, that makes all the difference in the world. But as Rod Liddle at the Guardian notes, Houellebecq apparently hates everyone with if not equal vigor at least a similar vitriolic command of his mind.

Some claim Houellebecq’s works are hip, humorous, satirical even. Ironically, I’ve got a long list of books I’m already looking forward to reading. Can’t fit you in, Michel.
